Resistant Culture - Welcome To Reality

This "Welcome To Reality" CD was originally released by Seventh Generation Records in 2005 and by the time was being re-released by SOS records in April 2007. Contains 16 tracks, and features some of the last recorded material of the late Jesse Pintado of Napalm Death/Terrorizer. The 16 tracks are described as 'tribal grind crust.' It's heavy, sometimes to the point of chaos, which seems to work for them, and is laced with anger toward our lovely modern civilization. Resistant Culture, has been kicking around the greater Los Angeles grind/punk underworld for the better part of two decades, but the band’s profile got a boost in 2005 when they enlisted the guitar talents of Jesse Pintado, who had recently vacated Napalm Death. Vocalist Anthony aka Tony Militia aka Tony Rezhawk, replace Oscar Garcia’s replacement on Darker Days Ahead and one of that album’s scant bright spots, has been a growling voice for American Indian tribal causes and that focus infuses Welcome to Reality. However, this band more than stands on its own, and I'm astounded that I didn't hear of it earlier. This CD kills. It's crusty grindcore with tribal influences - but the latter are truly tribal, working in Native American drums, chants, and flutes. The riffs are crushing, the recording is crisp, and blastbeats strafe the mix powerfully and precisely. 16 songs, 31 minutes, none less than fierce.
