Afgrund - Vid Helvetets Grindar

Last known full length studio album by this Swedish Grindcore heros released under well known Grindcore label : Willowtip Records in 2009.

The aspect of Sweden’s Afgrund I like the most is their ability to lay down an infectious hook, forcing one to either nod or bang their head in agreement. Signing with Willowtip Records, the band unleashes its sophomore full-length effort, an album full of "clever" Grind/Death that at some parts may remind you of bands like NASUM and ROTTEN SOUND. Even though I was expecting a typical boring band, AFGRUND really amazed me with their more than genius compositions and variable riffing that is far from being characterized mediocre or monotonous.
The increased punk and thrash influence adds another crucial dimension to what is often a one-dimensional style of metal, and it turns what would normally be a single rush of indistinct speed into fifteen well-developed compositions that continue to be catchy and intense long after most similar albums would have lost their luster.
If you're a grindcore lover, then you probably know it when you hear it. However, as relentless and cranium crushing as this album is, it does a little more than blast 'n gut the night away. Though not exactly atypical either, there is a thread of Swedish crust punk that rears its head from time to time, even if it's only in parts or in mutated form, such as with "A Burning Cross on your Perfect Lawn". This Swedish trio has something great going on here and you have got to check them out!

In My Eyes - Nothing To Hide

Last known full length studio album by these Boston Straight Edge leading band - In My Eyes - released in 2000 under Revelation Records. Contains 11 tracks,
This album is flashback to all that was cool about the straight edge scene in the late eighties. During this genre's heyday bands that sounded like this were saturating the hardcore scene and even the most ravenous fans found themselves deluged with countless variations on a somewhat limited theme. This album also Showing a somewhat more developed style than that on their first album (The Difference Between), this album incorporated more melodic elements, along with some experimentation , a characteristic rare in hardcore. Track 9, "What's Wrong With Me?", is a cover of the legendary Washington DC Hardcore punk band The Faith which originally appeared on the Void/Faith split 12".
Boasting an overall better set of songs and fuller production, Nothing to Hide is an improved sophomore set from In My Eyes, although it retains all the energy and passion of Difference Between. Minor Threat is still the band's dominant influence -- both in terms of music and straight-edge attitude -- but Nothing to Hide also shows a neo-hardcore band coming into its own, beginning to break away from the imitation phase and develop its own style.

Black Flag - In My Head

The 6th full length and also the last studio album by these legendary American Hardcore punk band - Black Flag - Originally released in 1985 under SST records. Contains 9 trcaks, this album was the final full length is arguably their finest and definitely their most inovative, the current lineup being Greg Ginn, Henry Rollins, Anthony Martinez, and Kira. Slower and yet more experimental than former albums, with a Black Sabbathian edge to it's hardcore sound but without resorting to metal. Rollins'voice is lower in the mix than ever before and weirdly echoey but certainly gets the job done. Excellent drumming as usual and just as in Loose Nut, Ginn's guitar solos are more restrained and rock'n roll oriented without loosing their manic edge. Songs like "Out Of This World" and "Society's Tease" demonstrate Greg Ginns masterful guitar work and Henry's ferious vocal management, these are heavy tunes with all the trademark Black Flag intensity. it also is the start of what is also defined today as postpunk.when i first heard this album it just blew me away i thought i knew what punk was all about.but after i relized that it was about thinking, attitude and music . something the black flag has lots of in there albums .so being the last of some 10 albums it still is has lots to say and is never boring to listen to.
This album demonstrates the true musical master talent of this band and doesn't sacrafice any of the intensity and aggression from their previous releases. You can label this as hardcore jazz experimental metal punk, but I'd just rather call it excellent music. Enjoy!

Decapitated - The Negation

if you're into an album that got the speed and punishing intensity of the drumming, this CD surely, will entertaint you. The 2004 full length studio album from these Poland Death Metal Leading band - Decapitated - released under Earache Records in March 2004.
Contains 8 solid tracks, this album was
a welcome step in the right direction for this talented young band. These young guys seem to be finally coming into their own. The vocals have become much more expansive than their first two full-lengths. Their drummer has been great from the get-go -- it's actually pretty amazing that he hasn't lost a beat, with already many years of aggressive drumming under his belt. Vitek truly does credit to Death Metal with his efforts here. Not so stupidly over the top, as you might find on early Nile albums, but still retaining that brutal blast beat without falling too much into the trap of physical impossibility, the likes of which you might find on Sleep Terror's latest record.
"The Negation", while not exactly breaking any new ground, shows us that the old still has plenty of kick left in it. It isn't a rehash of basic metal riffs, it is a new take on what some say is making the Death Metal genre stale these days. Every song on this album is good, there are none that stand out as particularly awful. Decapitated has truly struck an excellent balance between the modern metal scene and the metal that the long-term lovers such as myself know and love.
Considering how unrelenting and punishing this CD is, I'm sure it will have equal appeal to fans of grindcore and death metal, although I would definitely consider it death. Absolutely raging, spine-splintering, cranium-cracking, death!

Propagandhi - Less Talk, More Rock!

The second full length album also the second time working with Fat Wrecks Records by these Canadian Punk leading band - Propaghandi - released in May 1996. Contains 14 tracks,
there are some brilliant messages running within the powerful music. It seems these days that anyone who believes in any liberal ideas passionately, is automatically labeled with the dreaded (and I'm convinced right-wing invented not to mention completely thoughtless and stupid) "politically correct" catch phrase. So it's refreshing to see a band that has so much soul and aren't afraid to speak out about what they believe in. The only good facists is a very dead facist, is, in my opinion the best track on the record. The lyrics and message are much more simple, but a very important one. Racism is still experienced by people of all colours, and is believed in by people of all colours. People of all colours need to end it. It challenges white pride, that there is very little for them to be proud of, and more things for them to be ashamed of.
"Less Talk, More Rock" is fun activist punk that will make you dance and make you think. It's pro-feminist, queer-positive, anti-fascist and animal-friendly, proving that social change can be both serious and joyful. Besides, like Emma Goldman once said, "If I can't dance to it, then it's not my revolution!" Enjoy!

Terrorizer - Darker Days Ahead

After almost 17 tears waiting, finally here it come the second full length album entitled : Darker Days Ahead from these Grindcore Godfather - Terrorizer - was released under Century Media in August 2006. Terrorizer's music is now more death metal than grindcore. Breakneck tempos, blast beats and blistering guitars are topped with Rezhawk's searing death metal growls. They also do a new version of "Dead Shall Rise" from World Downfall. Contains 12 tracks, Darker Days Ahead is a bunch of immensely brutal and satisfying songs with blazing riffs, blasting drums, and deep, barking vocals.
The music can occasionally be a little repetitive, but there's still more than enough power and energy in Pete's astounding drum performance and Jesse's speaker-destroying guitar parts to make this disc warrant carrying Terrorizer's name. As a whole the songs are longer than the fisrt cd. While I preferred Nausea's vocalist Oscar Garcia to the guy on this cd, the new guy actually has a pretty good voice and tries to sound like Oscar on some parts. Pete's drumming is incredible and this is just an excellent cd.
Darker Days Ahead is a very solid death metal album with a lot of memorable Grindcore riffs and outstanding drumming from Pete Sandoval. Enjoy!

Misery Index - Traitors

A lot of bands in Grindcore Genre keep the songs short, and Misery Index does several two minute tracks. They are also able to stretch things out, and their four and five minute songs have enough diversity and are sufficiently compelling to hold the listener's interest. This "Traitors" Cd was the last know full length studio album by these Baltimore's Grindcore master - Misery Index - released under well known label - Relapse Records in November 2008.
Contains 11 tracks, this album shows the band evolving into the full-formed killing machine that their earlier material only hinted at. This album also a thought-provoking package. In the liner notes, Netherton accompanies each song with a famous quote. For example, there's Albert Einstein's "Never do anything against conscience" line, and Nietzsche's oft-cited saw about gazing into an abyss. Such invocations could come cheaply, but they match the songs. Backed by some of the most scathing anti-government, anti-religion and anti political lyrics I’ve read, Traitors amounts to an insurgent, musical coup d’etat against the current state of affair in the US. Urgent and violent but with a calculated sense of purpose, Traitors delivers 11 anthems of rebellion and tangible disgust with the current state of things.
From the opening intro/instrumental We Never Come in Peace you can tell this one will tear you to shreds. It's a slow and heavy opening before Theocracy comes crashing out the gates. Once the guitar slide and blast kick into mack 3 you know this is gonna be good. Severe brutality awaits you. Guitars grind, drums detonate and the band's furious vocal onslaught rail against a world aflame. What more you expect? Just grind your head then..

Bad Religion - The Process Of Belief

"The Process Of Belief" was the first album for these legendary Punk Rock band have a reunion with the old founding members - Brett Gurewits - released under Epitaph Records in 2002. 12th full-length release in a career that is now older than most of their fans, contains 14 tracks, this album was little to betray the band's classic blend of harmonious punk melodies and acid-tongued politics. Bad Religion is more than just a punk rock band. They are a punk rock institution. They have existed for almost 20 years and have always been a part of the musical evolution that is independent music. The music in this album is fast and tight and the lyrics are so sharp, more diverse and more melodic. they'll stay in your head for weeks.
This is punk at its finest and then some. Bad Religion continue to offer the goods while evolving in its sound, and they still have insightful comments to make about the world we live in. There is enough speed to satisfy the old-school die hards, and enough new elements added to keep things fresh. This may be the most balanced Bad Religion album ever, even if it doesn't quite reach the top of the overall list. It should satisfy those who only listen to their older harder material, those who only listen to their new stuff, and those like myself who love all of their albums.
This album is a must for any true bad religion fan.

Vitamin X - Full Scale Assault

Last known full length studio album by these Thrashcore leading band from Netherland - Vitamin X- released under Tank Crimes Records in 2008. Contains 20 tracks, this album shows a perfect balance of proffesional sheen and violent punk.
It took me about an hour to come across Vitamin X. I had to go through a lot of not so great acts in order to come upon this band, and it was completely worth the time and effort. Within the "Full Scale Assault" package lies a pretty standard crossover record though. Quite competent and rabid for sure which goes the span to cover two similar variations that Vitamin X specializes on; the desperate hardcore, and the desperate hardcore with flirty winks to classic rock. You'll get 20 songs of pure energy, power, heart, and a whole lot of screaming. The longest song on this album is a little over two minutes long. Everything else is about a minute plus of blistering guitars, excellent bass work, competent drumming, and vocals that any hardcore singer would kill for. The songs are put together well, and the lyrics are very witty. There is definitely a great message in this album, and it does make you think about life and why you do certain things. Enjoy!

The Locust - Plague Soundscapes

This album was The Locust's debut album working with Anti Records that was released in June 2003. Contains 24 tracks, you'll get a thrashing anxiety-attack of brutal, in-your-face grindcore, whiplash rhythms and growling, throat scratching screams propelled by reckless, furious guitars. This is a cocktail of chaos and mayhem; an infernal blast of terror and anger put into quick, barely over a minute bursts. The Locust are the band that you love to hate. They are too hardcore for the gay kids and too gay for the hardcore kids. They're not punk, punk is a dead, lifeless horse carcass that kids with tight plaid pants and mowhawks just keep beating with a baseball bat trying to get every drop of life out of it.
This album is an intelligent, cohesive, and overwhelmingly provocative album. The guys can play their instruments incredibly well, the music is wickedly tight and dynamic, it's not rare for a single 45 second song to plow through 10 time signature changes (some excellent drumming can be heard on this record). The guitar riffery is everywhere, ranging from razor sharp thrash cutups to primal sludge from outer space. The keyboards are insectoid and jerky. The tortured singing/screaming from the band members is indeed melodic (if you bother to actually listen) and contains bizarre and surprisingly nuanced rhythmic cadences that flow with the music.
Lyrically, we've got some odd, disjointed post-post-modernist ruminations on bodily fluids, political intrigue, culture, wounded animals, the environment, body parts, war, teenage moustaches, etc. The lyrics are always absurdist, fluctuating regularly between profane and profound. It's amazing how they can write such odd things, but still get the message across. It's some profound stuff.

Agnostic Front - Warriors

Formed in around of 1980, it's been almost 3 decades Agnostic Front kicking around the worldwide Hardcore/Punk scene. And this "Warriors" CD was their last known full length album released in November 2007 under Nuclear Blast Records. Consist of 14 solid NYHC tracks, the bands message of family and unity has never come across stronger in their music. Warriors is a statement of strength in the face of adversity and few bands make a statement louder than Agnostic Front. This album is exactly what you'd expect from Agnostic Front. It's intense hardcore/crossover thrash with thick, meaty riffs from guitarists Joseph James and Vinnie Stigma. The songs are simple, catchy and groovy and also pack plenty of punch. What I really dig about this album is how furious it sounds. I haven’t heard anything with this amount of anger and hatred in a long, long time. The metal influence, typical of New York Hardcore, is evident, but the tempo has been upped and the riffs are fucking killer. This is hardcore thrash metal and it is good quality hardcore thrash metal as well. "Warriors" explodes right from the beginning with a flurry of double bass drumming.
New York Hardcore still is, and obviously will always be, the cornerstone of this group. If there are two things that define Agnostic Front, it’s integrity and no compromise.

Six Feet Under - Death Rituals

Last known full length album by these Tampa's Death Metal leading act - Six Feet Under, released under Metal Blade Records in 2008. All that being said, one reason that I like Six Feet Under so much is that they have the balls to keep music fun for themselves. Contains 13 tracks, the music on this album is brutally bludgeoning, I hear it on for the first time and started headbanging. Six Feet Under consistently delivers quality American death metal, and "Death Rituals" is no exception. SFU’s style is very recognizable, and they don’t deviate very far from that path. Mid tempo songs are crushingly heavy, but have ample groove and hooks. It Features a Classics death vocal of Chris Barnes, guitars that are almost always eerie or head bobbingly heavy and drums that are not too busy. My personal favorite track is “Bastard”. It is perhaps the only track that I could attempt to label as “fun” and features the band showing off its Graveyard Classics tendencies. Yes, it is an old Motley Crue cover. They push it through the Six Feet Under machine, slowing it down and sludging it up a bit to better fit their style, but you can still definitely tell it is a Crue song.
Chris Barnes’ death growls seem really high in the mix on this album, and his lyrics deal with the usual topics of death, death, death and murder. What can we say? He is Chris Barnes... :)

Madball - Infiltrate The System

Last known full length by these New York Hardcore veterans - Madball - released under Ferret Records in the middle of 2007. Contains 13 tracks, this album was features more complex structures and compositions than the Madball of the past, while the lyrical content has moved beyond topics of hardcore and family loyalty to far more engaging lexicon. 13 tracks that combine the most tried-and-true and fan-beloved elements of their esteemed catalogue with new depth, renewed urgency, increasing diversity and a near-conceptual approach to new stories about the streets and the world. This album have a new level of control over the cds production and mixing which is great, sound heavier on just about everyway the music is tight, groove ridden, streamlined if you will and the lryics are a little more politally charged then totally personal. Maybe, i will classify this as a metalcore album, in this case, the metal comes from heavier, busier hardcore-evolved riffs to thrash. Breakdowns are riffs played at half-tempo with double bass drum beatings, and thankfully not of the single-note variety. this incarnation of the band is one of the best I loved matt hendersons guitar, will shepler on drum and vinny stigma and every one else in the band but this band simple shares one vision together i think they just click & groove from the sounds of things.
So, here they come the veterans!

Sepultura - Chaos A.D.

Sepultura's 5th studio album entitled : Chaos A.D. released under Roadrunner in the late of 1993. The four men from Belo Horizonte could foresee a glorious future after Beneath the Remains and the huge Arise in 1990. "Chaos A.D. upped the production values several notches witch rid the band of a sometimes rough sound. The diminishing of their past speed wasn't a bad thing either, as the riffs are some of the most brutal i have ever heard in the Thrash Catalogue. They slowed down a bit and added little more of a tribal, Native American sound on this album. The sound of Max's voice fits in perfectly with the music and the lyrics. Max Cavalera roars with his rage of his country's state, concerning at war and economic decay, songs with serious, informed lyrics about lands being torn asunder by war, greed, and corruption. Probably the most notable thing here is Sepultura's creative use of rhythms. There is a fine balance between heavy, compelling grooves, and corny "brootal breakdowns." This album has better developed vocals and sees the band going acoustic for one song.
I think all of Sepultura's albums are great, but Chaos A.D. is definatley the best.

Rage Against The Machine - Evil Empire

The Second album from these legendary Political leading band - Rage Against The Machine-was achieve their 1996 Grammy Award. Evil Empire released under Sony Music in April 1996, and you'll get a grimy, dark and sinister effort that better showed off RATM's hiphop and punk influences when hearing this album. Contains 11 tracks, there is an unbelievable energy captured on this record. Maybe for the fact that it was mostly recorded live, in the studio. It took me a few listens before I truly recognized the quality of this album. The riffing isn't as repetitive as the first album, and the lyrics aren't quite as juvenile as that release either. I must give Tom Morello some mention, of course, since his solos are interesting and innovative as always. The highlight here is "Bulls on Parade", where his solo sounds like a DJ scratching a turntable; the fact alone that the man has to duplicate this live is insane. All lyrics are some of Zack's best in my opinion and the chorus is the bands all time best, hands down.
RATM, as heard on this album, are no doubt legends in this genre and have influenced bands that have followed. "Evil Empire" is the only Rage album that stands up to repeat listenings, in my opinion.

Corrosion of Conformity - Deliverance

This was the fourth album by these North Carolina Crossover leading band- Corrosion Of Conformity - released under Columbia Records in November 1994. Formed in 1982, Corrosion of Conformity has retained their ever-so-fitting name throughout numerous lineup and style changes. Corrosion Of Conformity can speed their sound and go mental as in their beginings or either can slow down the madness and be more judgemental, but always they will stand for their ideological and political tougths. Contains 14 songs, this album and the first on which Peeper Keenan was lead singer. By this album, the band had completely shed their punk and thrash influences, instead opting for Black Sabath -inspired heavy metal style. Being dark and positive at the same time, very catchy riffs, excellent bass and drum work make Deliverance a must have for any music fan that enjoys groove metal, sludge metal or even classic Southern rock. There is a host of great rocking tracks, all enveloping that southern swagger and a great bent for melody. My favourites include the grooving opener "Heaven Is Not Overflowing", the slow-burner "Albatross", "Clean My Wounds" which is one of the band's most catchy and well known songs. Enjoy!

Agoraphobic Nosebleed - Hongky Reduction

This was the first full length studio album by these Massachusetts Grindcore leading band - Agoraphobic Nosebleed, released in 1998 under Relapse Records. For almost a decade, Agoraphobic Nosebleed has been providing us with pure acid grind. Starting as two-piece (most notably on Honkey Reduction) Jay Randoll (vocals) and Scott Hull (guitar, drum programming) set out to alter our way of listening to music and redefined the grindcore genre.
Contains 26 tracks, this album was massive Blazing hardcore in the finest traditions of power violence and blur. All songs are incredibly well structured and this gets me to the next point, another huge difference in this album is that all the songs are individual tracks, I mean this album has a concept yes, but it is not like every other conceptual album with all of the songs attached to each other, in Honky Reduction you will be able to know when a song ends and the next one begins, and the context is still there with a lot of power and supremacy. The drum machine belts out beats that are just flat out punishing to the ears and faster than any human drummer could do without an injury. Former A.C. guitarist Scott Hull puts out some nice low tuned riffing madness and vocalist Jay Randall has the perfect balance between low grindcore growls and screams. In this 18 grueling minutes and 26 songs you will find yourself wanting more. Enjoy!

Converge - When Forever Comes Crashing

The music genre : Metalcore wasn’t a well known genre in 1998, but this foursome had already been at it for eight years at that point. Converge was formed in 1990 by Jacob Bannon ( Vocalist ) and Kurt Ballou ( Guitarist). They first started by playing covers of hardcore punk, punk rock and heavy metal songs, being self-confessed "hardcore kids with leftover Slayer riffs". Converge came from Combining the anger and speed of hardcore/metalcore and kicking it up a notch with some great instrumental abilities and a unique sound that no band could quite possibly match. And this "When Forever Comes Crashing" CD was the thirth full length released under Equal Vision Records in 1998. Contains 12 tracks includes one unreleased demo track, this allbum was full filled with uncomromising speed and power with many quick and dramatic tempo shifts. Noisy yet technical guitarwork ala Rorschach, fast drumming, and plenty of psychotic vocals. this album may be hard to get into at first due to the insane vocal stylings of jacob bannon. For you fans of the thrashy, more metally side of Converge, this album fits. It's a more thrashy and angry side, as seen in the opening track : "My Unsaid Everything". Enjoy!

Poison The Well - Tear From The Red

This was the 2002 studio album by these Post Hardcore leading band - Poison The Well under Trustkill Records.Contains 10 tracks,"Tear From The Red" is a very experimental album. In many aspects, it's a step forward from their first release -"The Opposite Of December". Gone are the repetitive chugging lines and raspy vocals. All the instruments have definitely improved and Jeffrey Moreira's singing abilities have almost doubled.Tear From The Red was originally planned to be 11 original songs and one cover song but the cover plan was ditched before recording. The ability to be extremely heavy and then at the next turn become breathtakingly beautiful. Even the acoustic track "Horns and Tails" is written in a way where even though it is acoustic you can sense the same level of power as with Turn Down Elliot or Rings from Corona. Many people dont give it props because it lacks all the showy solos and kill me lyrics, but they replace that with raw emotion and feeling in each and everyone of the songs on this album. By the way, This was one of crucial albums when Trustkill records dominating the worldwide hardcore scene, let's have some memories. :)

Cephalic Carnage - Xenosapien

This was the last known full length studio album by these Colorado's Death Grinders - Cephalic Carnage - Released under Relapse Records in 2007. Contains 12 tracks, this album was an insanely brutal, technically precise, experiment in extreme death metal. To describe what kind of genre Cephalic Carnage goes into, you would have to list off about 5 or 6 genres just to come close to what it really sounds like. Cephalic Carnage's music incorporates a variety of genres, including doom metal, grindcore, black metal, jazz, sludge metal, stoner rock, and death metal. This is one technical album. I was expecting an all out Grind assault when I first bought this album. I was completely wrong. This band is a mix of Grind, Death, Doom, and Marajuana. That makes a great mix that the band likes to call Hydrogrind. John Merryman's drumming is insane, he is all over the kit, perfect timing, ingenius fills and rolls, and also Lenzig Leal's vocals may not be the best of the genre, but he has a good range of styles that he mixes up, he is never boring to listen to and he can match the guttural growls with a high pitched scream. Just check them out, get a new experience.

7 Seconds - Good To Go

Formed in the early 80's, 7 Seconds has been a mainstay on the hardcore scene since then. And this was the 1999 full length released under Side One Dummy Records in June 1999. Contains 16 solid tracks which all are full filled with melodic power with sheer backbreaking mayhem. All songs racing through in less than thirty minutes, you'll be hard pressed to find a song that isn't loaded with intensity, sweat, and blood. These guys know what they're doing and do it well. Kevin Seconds proves once again that he's an insightful lyricist. 7 Seconds are able to profoundly express their convictions of unity, the strength of an individual, anti-racism, and gender equality without limiting themselves to one audience. They make it known that they aren't "hard" and everyone is welcome to share their music and message. Check this one out, for all of you who still believe in old tradition of Hardcore.

Social Distortion - Somewhere Between Heaven And Hell

This was the 1992 full length studio album by these American rock living legend, Social Distortion, released under Sony Music. Contains 11 powerfull tracks, Social Distortion finally find the most healthy balance between their two major influences, the country anguish of Johnny Cash and the furious punk rock sound of early The Clash. The album has a similar sound to the previous, eponymous, album, said to be a blend of "punk, blues, country and rockabilly. The songs are great but it just comes across as flat as can be. Like they just hit upon some middle line and never stray from it. It is definately the most country influenced album that they have ever released but it still holds on to their punk roots. So, enjoy!

Anal Cunt - It Just Gets Worse

This was the 1999 full length album by these American most obnoxious & offensive grindcore bands ever - Anal Cunt, released under Earache Records. The album was recorded between August 1998 and August 1999, although the majority of it was recorded after the band's 1998 tour in Japan. Contains 20 tracks, this album was understandably the subject of much controversy, receiving universally negative reviews and heavy criticism from much of the music press. It was intentionally created to be incredibly offensive and contains blatant vulgarity, in the form of misogyny, racism, sexism, anti-Semitism and general tastelessness.  Basically, Seth Putnam ( Th founder member and also the vocalist ) wanted to create the most offensive band name, the most offensive lyrics, and make some of the most annoying and offensive music ever created. If you take music seriousally or just easily get offended, stay away from this band. At first listen they are hard to hear, but listen more and more and you'll get the full experince.  Check them out!

Phobia - Get Up And Kill!

This was the 2004 full length album by these Southern California's grindcore masters - Phobia -  released under Deep Six Records. Contains eleven studio tracks and six lives tracks recorded on their tour with Cripple Bastards, this album gave a prove that Phobia has been punishing ears with their murderous sociopolitical grinding noise assault for a full decade. Heavily influented by bands such  Napalm Death, Terrorizer, Repulsion and Final Conflict, Phobia always give us an Angry, political grindcore with growling vocals, from the beggining to the end of this cd is 100% satisfying. They always had punk/crust influences, but they always liked metal. Just Check this one out and prove it! For you all grindcore maniacs out there.

Afgrund - Vid Helvetets Grindar ( 2009 )

Formed in 2006, Afgrund managed to prepare their first release (a 5-track demo CD) in only one month. And now, here it come their second full length after the re-issued of their first album-Svarta Daggar- by Emetic Recs. in 2008, entitled "Vid Helvetets Grindar" under well known Willowtip Recs. in this 22 May 2009.
Contains 15 tracks, this album is a direct comparisons to influential and fellow Swedes Nasum. What immediately springs out and signals a departure to ‘Svarta Dagar’ of 2008 is just how good the production is. Grindcore can sound overly messy – intentional or otherwise – but Afgrund has managed to make the guitars sound metallic and almost industrial, with a huge sound that also allows the bass drop a ton of overdrive everywhere. With the drums clattering all around and with Andreas Baier and Enrico Marchi’s crusty vocals adding coarse textures over the place, this makes for a very brutal mix indeed.
So, just imagine Imagine early Entombed with blastbeats and hints of early Enslaved with a few obscure movie samples a’la Mortician. Don’t misunderstand, grindcore can be fun if written with imagination and a sense of mischief, but the 15 tracks here contain none of the above.

Afgrund have released 2 songs of their upcoming album "Vid Helvetets Grindar" on myspace, just check them out!

Vison Of Disorder - Imprint

The second full length studio album by these New York Hardcore Legend - Vision Of Disorder, was released in 1998 under Roadrunner Recs. Vision Of Disorder began playing together in 1992, in Long Island New York. and then disbanded in 2002. Contains 11 tracks, this album was heavier then their self-titled debut. This album is truly incredible. It has an unrelenting power, and I don't just mean it's loud and noisy - which was how a lot of metal/hardcore fans define 'power'. I would recommend this to fans of Agnostic Front, Hatebreed, and even Deftones. Get it and it will make sense. For Pantera, Down, and Superjoint Ritual fans out there, catch Phil Anselmo on an amazing duet in the song By The River. VOD is a pioneer band of hardcore. As the scene was mutilated by MTV, they will Forever stand out.

Terrorizer - World Downfall

This was the first album by these legendary grindcore godfather - Terrorizer, originally released under Earache Recs. in 1989, and by the time it has been re-released in 1995 under the same label. "World Downfall" kind of sounds like Napalm Death, circa 1987 (the "Scum" era), except these songs are longer and David's vocals are much more constipated. This record is one long, ultra-intense, giga-heavy, super fast maelstrom composed of walls of crushing guitar noise and constant, speed of light blast beats. Contains 16 tracks which all are full filled with anger about everything that goes horribly wrong in this missreable planet this album was considered as one of the best grindcore album all the time. This is grindcore with some serious f*ckin riffs and blast beats galore. Speaking of the those, it's pretty amazing that they use it frequently but it still seems like they're placed perfectly in the songs and it just feels awesome. These guys were able to do on this record what Napalm Death were not on their first two records, which was harness the insane brutality more accurately.
And in 2006, Terrorizer been release their second full lenght album entitled : "Darker Days Ahead", but unfortunatelly a week after the album released, Jesse Pintado, The former member and also the guitarist, dead because his complications and diabetes.

Carcass - Reek of Putrefaction

This was the first full length album from these british Grindcore living legend in 1995 released under Earache Recs. Consist of 20 fast and in your face brutal tracks, this album was a truly ferocious metal masterpiece. By the time, it was re-released in 2008 under the same label. Carcass can be consider as the inventors, with this album, of the forensic, gore, medical and autopsies lyrics; and add the collages of rotten limbs, tongues, heads and decaying corpses on the covers of the first two albums. The drumming has excellent production and Ken Owen does a brilliant job. The vocals are probably the most disgusting part of the album. As gutteral as you can get, they belt out the gore lyrics at lightning speeds.
Repulsion are rightly considered the true originators of grindcore and for good reason, but in 1987 three young Brits took their influence and made things just a bit faster, a bit gorier and ultimately even more brutal, if that were possible. Early Carcass such as this is not death metal-it's grindcore which makes it more akin to punk, hardcore, and crust. Well, grindcore is a style that is recognized not for the musical skills or for being technical. Fast-blazing drums, gutural voices, and a guitar that sounds like Tv with no signal.
This was the masterpiece by the living legend, if you are at all into gore or death metal, you need to own this album.

Smells Like Bleach - A Punk Tribute To Nirvana

This tribute CD album to Nirvana was released by Cleopatra Recs. in 2001. Everyone from Charlie Hunter to Tori Amos has interpreted Nirvana's iconoclastic anthems, but none of them has captured Nirvana's anarchic power. Contains 12 tracks which all are covered by leading punk bands, some of the bands on here were bands which Kurt Cobain was heavily influenced by. The Vibrators cover is too damn close to the original version, Flipper might as well have done one of their own songs because they sound just like Scentless Apprentice, and DOA sound more toungue-in-cheek than reverent. If you like Nirvana and want to hear Classic punk bands do Nirvana covers the way they want to, find this album.

Youth Of Today - Break Down The Walls

It was the first full length studio album by these crucial old school hardcore straight edge legend - Youth Of Today. This "Break Down The Walls" LP originally released in 1987 under Wishingwell Recs. and by the time was re-released by Reveleation Recs. in 1997. This album contains 13 greats straight ahead hardcore tracks with aggressive, honest and positive lyrics. Very fast songs that full filled with emotion and everything being played sounded fast, simple loud and raw.
What really brings out sense of hardcore, at least for me, are Ray Cappo's vocals. They're so intense, so desperate and so urgent. That was hardcore used to be completely based on- a need for change, a positive philosophy. At the end, Youth Of Today with this "Break Down The Walls" LP are a legendary old school hardcore band with Ray Cappo on vocal, a must for anyone who listens to HC.

Suffocation - Souls To Deny

This was the 4th full length studio album by these Death Metal leading band - Suffocation that was released by Relapse Records in April 2004. Contains 8 tracks which all are a prove that It's a true-to-form return for death metal's kings of brutality after a very long waiting since their previous album, "Pierced from Within " in 1995. Suffocation's music is exactly how it's name implies: Suffocating. The guitars have so much low end it sometimes feels like you're wading through mud listening to them. There are very few moments on this album where you don't feel as if the band isn't playing as intensely as they possibly can. This album feature awesome drumming from one of death metal's finest drummers-Mike Smith. His drum fills and double bass work never gets boring,t he guitar riffs and leads still sound original, and vokillist Frank Mullen has one of the best growls in the genre, deep and throaty from the bowels of hell. The production is perfectly clean, the instruments sound incredible, and the vocals sound perfect also the mixing and mastering is incredible , The artwork is incredible, everything that a Death Metal should give. What more can we say? Just bang your head then..

Melvins - Nude With Boots

Melvins as you always know, would give you tons of joy, sludge-filled and glorious rock 'n roll. Their music stand between skull-melting sludge metal and meditative time signatures, The Melvins have, over the past quarter century, created some of the most innovative and confrontational music on record and even can tell those guys have influenced many now successful bands. And this "Nude With The Boots" CD was their last known studio album in 2008 released under Ipepac Recordings. With this their nineteenth studio album, the Melvins are once again bludgeoning their way through a hectic and preposterously sludgy set of tracks well worthy to follow-up 2006’s great (A) Senile Animal. The heart of the Melvins is, of course, the dynamic duo of Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover. This demented nucleus added Jared Warren and Coady Willis (Big Business), a second drummer, to the devilish dichotomy and came up with another full blast of crazed noise. All Melvins cd took a few listens to get into but like other melvins albums, senile animal, the maggot, when you start to get in it, it keeps getting better and better. You wanna try? By the way, i already put them as my crucial living legend, my hero in my musical sense. One of band that essentials. They are always and would be always, Inspiring, Influenting!

Dying Fetus - War Of Attrition

This was the last known full length studio album by these death metal living legend from maryland, USA - Dying Fetus, that was released under well known Relapse Records in 2007. Contains 8 tracks which each track was running in more then 4 minutes in average. It's been four years since the last album, but they doesn't lost the intensity that made them famous, “War of Attrition” is brutal, well-played, quality death metal. All the classic DF ingredients are here - death growls, machine gun kicks, clattering snares, righteous riffs with a touch of Necrophagist in the pick sweeps. It seems that Dying Fetus have really turned up the “technical” notch on their guitars because almost every other riff is filled with complex difficult technical guitar playing and rifting. The double bass drumming is fast, though many metal drummers could match this speed. There will be a fast part, like around 200 bpm, that may last for 30 seconds with Mr. Timlin just blast beating the whole time, which by the way is the climax. Overall, “War of Attrition” is a enjoyable release and will surely please dedicated Fetus fans. They are Death Metal, and they are political, combination that might kill you dood.. so beware!

Discordance Axis - Jouhou

Discordance Axis once mentioned as one of the most original and complex grindcore bands. This "Jouhor" CD was their second full length studio album that was released under Hydra Head Records in 1997. Consist of 32 tracks of pure grindcore, the album is over the top in almost every way. Everything from the agonized shrieks and low fi growls to the chaotic crashing of distortion and out of control tempos create the sonic mindfuck that you’ve been craving for, the music is also just as wild, caustic, and angry. Punishing, suffocating, and all the more addictive, Jouhou is, as said, a familiar album in terms of feelings compared with The Inalienable Dreamless. But there are plenty of moments to give it it’s own face and brain. Least of which is the sound. The mix is dirty and murky a bit, but this doesn’t detract – infact, it makes the intensity better in some strange way. There are also different musical exploitations explored within the album, even different from those found in The Inalienable Dreamless. Most of the songs are a about a minute, some a little more, some a little less, lots of frantic speed and dissonance, relentless screaming, plenty of blasts, a general feeling of controlled chaos that does definitely come off as structured and well performed, etc. The vocals get a little deeper during parts of tracks like "Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said", which also covers a wider range of textures and tempos. "Aperture of Pinholes" also has some very noteworthy slower rhythms that are among the heaviest the band ever displayed. Overall, i think "Jouhou" was the best release during their Discordance Axis amazing existence. And surely. this is Grindcore, and it's originall!

Regurgitate - Sickening Bliss

This was the last known full length by these sweden Gore Grind leading band that released in 2006 under Relapse Records. Regurgitate is one of those bands that is easy to hate if you are not a fan of gore-grind. However, I do enjoy a good bit of said genre, so I've been a fan of Regurgitate since their Carnivorous Erection album. This CD is bringing back the pitch shifted gurgling gutturals straight out of Carnivorous Erection! Right away when the intro track "Bliss" ends, the album opener "Abducens Eminence" kicks in with brute force and represents the pitch shifted gurgles right away as the vocals kick in, soon to be followed up with some vomiting screams. Seriously though, this is a great album, packed with punchy, meaty riffing, tons of powerful hooks, and just the necessary amount of Crust to keep things interesting and energetic throughout. Regurgitate also doesn't follow the same formula for every song. If this approach is absent, it can kill a grind album. Sure, there are some songs that are just complete blasts, but there are more of the slower, crunchy parts than I remember being on their previous full-length, Deviant. If you already a huge fans of them, i don't need much to say about how great their gory grindcore. But if you are a new kid on the grindcore, just forget about the lyrics, focus on the music, it would be a worth checking out to learn how grindcore music it should be.

Magrudergrind - 62 Trax Of Thrash

This was the discography CD for the first three years of this band's existence that was released under To Live A Lie Records in 2005. The title does not lie, it contains 62 thrash/grind tunes here. One thing that would be very remarkable was Magrudergrind only need less than 3 years to make these 62 tracks being collected together in this discography since they was formed in 2002. This collection of hardcore anthems contains the Owned 7” (Punks Before Profits Records), Religious Baffle CD (self released by the band), splits with GODSTOMPER (Nuclear BBQ Party Records and To Live A Lie Records), SANITY’S DAWN (Regurgitated Semen Records), A WARM GUN (McCarthyism Records and Misfire Records), AKKOLYTE (Death, Agony & Screams Records), and VOMIT SPAWN (Militant Records), and a very hard to find demo. Most of the songs are really short and have some out of place kind of riff like the beginning of the Star Spangled Banner or part of Jingle Bells. An amusing joke, but for the most part just a joke. The guitars are more downtuned, the drumming is also quicker and tighter throughout. For you who unaware with this band, this album directly for you.

Naked City - Torture Garden

It was the second release by one of the best John Zorn's band project - Naked City released originally in 1989 under Shimmy Disc. Contains 42 tracks, this album was couldn't be sold in the United States because of the cover art, now concealed within the Black Box. This also the album for Naked City worked with Yamatsuka Eye as a vocalist. Torture Garden incited by the images of Japanese sadomasochist pornography contained herein, Leng Tch'e by photographs of a Chinese public execution involving extended torture. Musically, this album was full filled with unconventional song structures, howling vocals, loud and chaotic instrumentation. That about sums up Naked City. With the two longest songs clocking in at 1:18, this album is pure chaos in the most blissful form. This music is freeform to the extreme, working in chaotic punk and metal guitar riffs, pounding drums, inhuman screams, random keyboard breaks, and saxophone styles just as chaotic, if not more so, than the rest of the instruments. Naked City combines many of Zorn's most talented collaborators, and it inspires some of his most brutish and brilliant alto saxophone playing. Really the only problem with this album is it doesn't seem to follow any flow or structure, but as always hapened after hearing any of their album, Naked City would make you say : "WOW!" in the end of hearing.

The Berzerker - The Reawakening

This was the latest release by these Industrial Death Grind band from Melbourne, Australia that was released under their own label : Berzerker Industries in September 2008. Contains 10 heavy tracks ( In the digipack edition there are some more 6 other remixes bonus tracks ), the album is thankfully damn good and will not disappoint any fans of the band. But, this album was quietly different from previous album under Earache Records. One immediately noticeable change that may divide fans somewhat is the return of what Kenny describes as the "machine-gun blast"- the drum sound that was utilized on 2002's 'Dissimulate' but has not been used on their past few releases. Also you cand find tons of the liberal dosages of sampled, harsh techno beats that continuously pulse around the distinctly Carcass-esque riffage. There are plenty of riffs to be had here, of course, but this is one album where I view songs as a complete entity, rather than focusing on a distinct riff, or vocal line. So while I remember few riffs from the album, it doesn’t make it any less enjoyable for me.
5 albums into their career and with a reasonably high profile to boot, anyone who are already fans of Berzerker would enjoy this album. But i think for anyone who are unaware with this band would need repeated hearing to get chemistrically conected with this release.

Benumb - Hand Of The Martyr

"Soul Of The Martyr" CD by these Bay Area Grindcore leading band - Benumb, was released under Relapse Records in 1998. Consist of 35 raging grindcore tracks, this album undoubtedly full filled with most angry, furious riffting, powerfull, fast and complex style in music that running in 1000 Mph. these guys dont play with the greatest skill but what they do play is very skillful in its flesh-ripping speed. the songs are short spurts (average about 25 secs. a song) of sonic music that gets me in the mood for putting myself through a brick wall and anyone else around me also. The neatest thing about Benumb is their ability to write slow crushing parts with their faster grindier pieces. Vocal wise I hear a lot of hardcore influence. Slow moshing parts and a lot of tempo change in shorter than a minute songs. Benümb represent their style in a somewhat modern way, and they've added a lot of metal riffage to their music yet not being newschool metalcore.
For you who are curious to see what would gonna hapened when heavy raging grindcore mixed with obvious hardcore and some punk influences, this CD is worth checking out.

Cause For Effect - Nuclear Blues

This was the tape EP by these Fusion Grindcore duo from Finland released under Upground Records in 1997 after their split "7 with Noise Waste in 1995. Formed in 1992, Cause For Effect was started as a completed band which uses a guitar player just like other band, but by the years around in 1999, officially being a duo. And in this EP was still in the time when still there : Jamu, handling the guitar's department. bassist tuomo is an astonishing musician. he is fast, chaotic, and even groovy/funky on occasion. he is a horrible vocalist, but i suppose cause for effect is less about the singing and more about the instruments. drummer ari is every bit tuomo's compliment, blasting and filling and attacking his kit with the razor-sharp precision of a mad surgeon with a scalpel in each hand. Cause For Effect are known for their unconventional grindcore music, like some kind of combination of freeform jazz and grind. It's really hard to find this EP considering to the limited press for only 200-300 copies. For you who already aware with this band, i don't need much to say about why this band are worth checking out. They are bunch of brilliant musician, very underrated, and surely, this EP would always be a very rare collection.

Turmoil - The process Of...

Turmoil once was a hardcore band that able to break the border that stands between metal and hardcore. This "The Process of..." CD was their last known studio album under Century Media which was released in 1999. Contains 12 tracks, this album is musically complex for a hardcore band with numerous, fancy tempo changes and a menacing vibe worthy of Slayer. The lyrics are almost all accusatory, straight-edge-style rants, while their musical barrage operates like a swarm of insects and is relentless and deafening. It really focuses hard on the riff, which are well executed and perfectly placed. The vocals are rough enough to incite mayhem, but not so overwhelming as is the case in a lot of hardcore acts now-a-days. As the lines between metal and hardcore continue to blur you can bet that "The Process Of..." will stand up to the testament of the vitality of the genre. In my opinion, this was their best album so far, while they aren't around anymore, Turmoil deserve to be classified as the best in metalcore.

Sylvester Staline - Gonna Spread Hard Drugs To Your Stupid Kids With The Royalties Generated By This CD

This "Gonna Spread Hard Drugs To Your Stupid Kids With The Royalties Generated By This CD" was the only full lenght by these power violence band from France - Sylvester Staline, that was released under Bones Brigade Records in 2005. These guys are unreliable boozed lazy fucks, but when it comes to power violence, Sylvester Staline means intensity, unpredictable attitude, fast and fucking furious tunes topped with some of the worst tastes ever in termes of lyrics, topics and song titles. This album is mostly fun, The cover and lyrics made me laugh. Just imagine, bunch of morrons get fucked by alcohol and then play some crazy music at top maximum speed while singing some really crazy lyrics. This album swings and bounces and has an aggressive touch in the fast regions of the songs and not for those who take life too serious. After 5 time hearing, maybe you would enjoy this one. Just try a little harder if it failed in the 5th time. :)

Cenotaph - Reincarnation in Gorextasy

These Turkish Grindcore heros were back to the scene with their full length entitled : "Reincarnation in Gorextasy", released under Unmatched Brutality Records ( For USA distribution ) and Atlantis Music ( for Turkey distribution ) in 2007. It has been almost 4 years since their thirth album ;"Pseudo Verminal Cadaverium" back in 2003, Cenotaph didn't produce any effort. And this album display eight tracks of relentless technical grindcore that goes straight for the throat. The vocals stand out because of small pitch changes, a characteristic brutal death often lacks. Near the end of "Vomiting Psycho Intent" a high end vocal caps off the track perfectly just as the music fades. Batu Cetin ( Vocalist ) is far past understandable retaining the brutal death standard. You would get everything you expect, this album would gives you a thick recording sound. The guitars are really heavy crunchy, grindy sounding, the drums are really fast sounding with lots of crashes, blast beats, the vocals are really low deep dark death growls Overall, their grindcore was pretty impresive. Well the cover features a disemboweled corpse so you right away know what to expect, gory as hell death metal.
