Oppressed, The - Music For Hooligans

This "Music For Hooligan" CD was released under Step 1 Music in 1996, consist of 16 tracks which are running in the super energic Oi! main tune. I think that this album possesses a unique characteristic in the fact that the recording quality seems to be below par, but at the same time, it was this fact that really enhanced the music as a whole. Because the recording was so simplistic, it matched the style of music -- very simply and truly Oi! music. Oppressed frontman - Roddy Moreno is one of the most important figures in the anti-racist Oi! scene to continue to make music, and his ideologies are front and foremost on Music for Hooligans. Put together out of a previously released EP and a handful of covers, Moreno and crew blast through the 16 Oi! anthems like it was 1982 all over again. All of the songs on the album are very good listening, it is one of the few albums that I can listen all the way through and not have a complaint. It has a good pace to it. Compared to their first release, Oi! O! Music, this one actually is much more somber and relaxing. lyrically, every song is a politically motivated track designed for singing along and bouncing around the room. If you are just getting into Oi! music, this would be a great first release to get, it worth for every penny.
