Kungfu Rick - Fragments Of The Past Time

Kungfu Rick was a Hardcore/Power Violence band from Chicago, IL They played a dizzying display of brutal Grind violence with a raw punk energy. They also had dual vocals, one the now infamous leader of HWC inc. Tommy Camaro, and second a masked man named "The Dark Enforcer".They released a number of 7" albums and before calling it quits, though their Facebook page has seen some activity recently, 625 Thrashcore released basically their entire discography on two CDs entitled Fragments of the Past Time. This release is an insane blasting, ear crushing midwest grinding fastcore. This release is one gigantic, fan-friendly chunk of powerviolence. You'd probably think that two discs of this stuff would amount to a total of 30 minutes knowing how some of these bands opted for the 20-second format, but Kungfu Rick's discography here is well over 50 minutes, per disc.Kungfu Rick were a tight band and navigate the tempo shifts successfully but that’s not enough to prevent it from becoming numbing after awhile.At the time, these guys were compared to MÖRSER and other German grind units, but their over-the-top live shows, the intelligence of the lyrics, and above all, the brutality of their music, have gained them now cult status.
This double CD discography collects everything this head-crushing unit ever did, plus a few unreleased morsels mixed in for good measure. Enjoy.

Spazz - Sweatin' 3: Skatin', Satan & Katon

Spazz was an influential American powerviolence band active between 1992 and 2000. The trio released numerous records within this time, many of which are now highly collectible due to their relative rarity."Sweatin' 3" is part three of a three part series from SPAZZ that collects rare, obscure and out-of-print tunes. It is also their first posthumous release. It containzz 67 songzz from splitzz with 25 TA LIFE (the most infamous SPAZZ release ever), MONSTER X, GOB, L.O.I., OPSTAND, BLACK ARMY JACKET, SLOBBER and HIRAX plus the complete "Tastin' Spoon" 5" and several compilation trackzz including the scarce classic "Gummo Love Theme."They’ve stretched their back catalog to three volumes and this CD was the final installment. the only single that is absent is the limited to 300 jeb ep that came out after this disc but really isnt much of a loss. for those of you who are not crazy for vinyl this is essential. intense blast beat mayhem that still remains catchy and the songs distinguishable from the last. once you own this and know its greatness you should finish Bridges, Jesus Philbin, Funeral Shock, Scholastic Deth and What Happens Next.

The Locust - Plague Soundscapes

This album was The Locust's debut album working with Anti Records that was released in June 2003. Contains 24 tracks, you'll get a thrashing anxiety-attack of brutal, in-your-face grindcore, whiplash rhythms and growling, throat scratching screams propelled by reckless, furious guitars. This is a cocktail of chaos and mayhem; an infernal blast of terror and anger put into quick, barely over a minute bursts. The Locust are the band that you love to hate. They are too hardcore for the gay kids and too gay for the hardcore kids. They're not punk, punk is a dead, lifeless horse carcass that kids with tight plaid pants and mowhawks just keep beating with a baseball bat trying to get every drop of life out of it.
This album is an intelligent, cohesive, and overwhelmingly provocative album. The guys can play their instruments incredibly well, the music is wickedly tight and dynamic, it's not rare for a single 45 second song to plow through 10 time signature changes (some excellent drumming can be heard on this record). The guitar riffery is everywhere, ranging from razor sharp thrash cutups to primal sludge from outer space. The keyboards are insectoid and jerky. The tortured singing/screaming from the band members is indeed melodic (if you bother to actually listen) and contains bizarre and surprisingly nuanced rhythmic cadences that flow with the music.
Lyrically, we've got some odd, disjointed post-post-modernist ruminations on bodily fluids, political intrigue, culture, wounded animals, the environment, body parts, war, teenage moustaches, etc. The lyrics are always absurdist, fluctuating regularly between profane and profound. It's amazing how they can write such odd things, but still get the message across. It's some profound stuff.

Magrudergrind - 62 Trax Of Thrash

This was the discography CD for the first three years of this band's existence that was released under To Live A Lie Records in 2005. The title does not lie, it contains 62 thrash/grind tunes here. One thing that would be very remarkable was Magrudergrind only need less than 3 years to make these 62 tracks being collected together in this discography since they was formed in 2002. This collection of hardcore anthems contains the Owned 7” (Punks Before Profits Records), Religious Baffle CD (self released by the band), splits with GODSTOMPER (Nuclear BBQ Party Records and To Live A Lie Records), SANITY’S DAWN (Regurgitated Semen Records), A WARM GUN (McCarthyism Records and Misfire Records), AKKOLYTE (Death, Agony & Screams Records), and VOMIT SPAWN (Militant Records), and a very hard to find demo. Most of the songs are really short and have some out of place kind of riff like the beginning of the Star Spangled Banner or part of Jingle Bells. An amusing joke, but for the most part just a joke. The guitars are more downtuned, the drumming is also quicker and tighter throughout. For you who unaware with this band, this album directly for you.

Sylvester Staline - Gonna Spread Hard Drugs To Your Stupid Kids With The Royalties Generated By This CD

This "Gonna Spread Hard Drugs To Your Stupid Kids With The Royalties Generated By This CD" was the only full lenght by these power violence band from France - Sylvester Staline, that was released under Bones Brigade Records in 2005. These guys are unreliable boozed lazy fucks, but when it comes to power violence, Sylvester Staline means intensity, unpredictable attitude, fast and fucking furious tunes topped with some of the worst tastes ever in termes of lyrics, topics and song titles. This album is mostly fun, The cover and lyrics made me laugh. Just imagine, bunch of morrons get fucked by alcohol and then play some crazy music at top maximum speed while singing some really crazy lyrics. This album swings and bounces and has an aggressive touch in the fast regions of the songs and not for those who take life too serious. After 5 time hearing, maybe you would enjoy this one. Just try a little harder if it failed in the 5th time. :)

Man Is The Bastard - Sum Of The Man " The Brutality Continues.."

Formed in Claremont, California back in 1991 and then disbanded in 1997, Man Is The Bastard were a pioneering hardcore punk band who contributed the name, and perhaps also the ethos, to the punk subgenre known as power violence. This album was the official re-release of their first album plus tracks from the "our earth's blood" 7inch, and splits with born against, bleeding rectum, and sinking body released under Vermiform Records in 1996. Contains 32 tracks, this album's sound was a brutal mix of complicated technical riffing and straight-up hardcore. Man is the Bastard is by no means an easy listen. Their songs are bludgeoning, sometimes painful, and very noisy.Using double Bass Guitar player which the bass's sound always drively distorted, brutally pounded with dual dual grinding voices, Man Is the Bastard also made the move of displacing the electric guitar from its long reign as the primary instrument of punk aggression. Their thematic emphasis on the primitive and mythological would continue in Man Is the Bastard records such as “Sum of the Men” and the split album with Bleeding Rectum. The fullest expression of these concerns appeared with the 7 inch EP entitled “Backward Species,” which combined an almost anthropological/New Historicist approach to humanity’s violent practices. If you are into Hardcore Punk or Power Violence shit, check this one out.

The Ultimate Warriors - Our Gimmick Is Wrestling

This was the one & only full length by these Nazareth, Pennsylvania´s bad boys of wrasslin´-core that was released under Doppelganger Records. It's very hard to find any The ultimate Warriors's album considering to the limited copy everytime their efforts being released. And this one, as i informed, was released limited for 1000 copies around the world. This album is a raging Power Violence which the sound has expanded with heavier breakdowns, sampling, and occasional hilarity, the Ultimate Warriors intend to deliver spiked piledrivers to all those un-hip to their sound. If you know nothing about these guys, they are Power Violence band that always put something crazy in their live shows. From messy chaos with gorillas and bananas, to barbed wire chains, to microwaves being brought in from a window by the head Warrior troublemaker, Jonny the Catt, no one is ever sure what to expect, not even the Warriors themselves. And this their only one full length was a utterly crazy power violence, tight, great hardcore/spazzcore/grind whatevercore.which is played at the speed of light which the topic of the lyrics are crossing from pro wrestling to Lybian hit squads. Disbanded in 2004, the Ultimate Warriors have been bringing fast, moshy, noisy hardcore to the forefront, with a decidedly wrestling theme, both lyrically and presentationally.

Romantic Gorilla - S/T 1998

This was their last known full length after their Split album with legendary Spazz. Released in 1998 under Sound Pollution Recortds. Consist of 19 tracks that fullfilled with Thrashy guitars riffting, fast-pounding drumming also Amazing high pitched screaming female voice, yeah, it was a Crusty Power violence album by these Crazed Japanese hardcore. Formed in Japan back in 1993, Romantic Gorrila had been spread their unique style for almost 16 years in their amazing carrer. I don't hear much about these guys nowadays, but the first time as i remembered when listening into this album, was feel like taken back into the Power Violence glory days. The time when hardcore music was giving something more straight in my face, short, fast and loud!

Infest - No Man's Slave

It was a re-release CD from the originall full lenght of this almighty Thrash/Hardcore legend - INFEST in 2001 under Deepsix Records ( The original was released in 1995, one year before INFEST disbanded in 1996). This "No Man's Slave" CD still uses just one guitar and one bass track, presumably run direct, accounting for how saturated they sound. They’re a bit crisper than earlier recordings, but it gives the record a certain sharpness that Infest never had before. This is a 19 tracks 0f non-stop powerviolence of only the best variety. The heavy-fuzz and the storming vocals are just about unbeatable. Drawing directly from the hatecore vibe of the early 80s, INFEST took balls-to-the-wall hardcore up a notch. On "No Man's Slave" you get everything you would expect from these legends (speed, violence, speed, hooks, speed, angst, speed, speed, speed). This is how this genre should be played, no double bass drum bullshit, just fast as possible without turning it into grindcore. Lyricwise it is pissed off stuff, fitting very well into the angry and powerfull mode of the music.
Every song is great, and the record is short. Pretty much the most solid powerviolence record to grace humanity's ears.

Combat Wounded Veteran - Duck Down For The Torso

Released under No Idea Records in May 2002, this Combat Wounded Veteran's "Duck Down For The Torso" CD was their final release with the new line up reformation. Combat Wounded Veteran played in a style differing from the first generation of emoviolence bands, and were influenced by and sounded like bands such as Charles Bronson. This CD contains 4 tracks, last in 40 minutes including the longest ; "15 minutes on the Forklift". While many grind bands use crisp riffs and over-produced drum sounds to assail the listener, Combat Wounded Veteran employ an added element of surprise: overdrive everything. The guitars endlessly feedback, the vocals are fuzzy and crunchy, the drums sound like the mics are too close, and so on. But maybe, in different angle, it would be the unique power for this EP CD.
Power violence would always be power violence, it is what is. Fast, and straight in your face. This is Combat Wounded veteran is crushing the line with their final release, enjoy!

Kungfu Rick / The Ultimate Warrior "Split"

Two of awesome-very influential power violence bands on a split release. Yeah, it's almost too good to be true. There's only one song from Kung Fu Rick, while The Ultimate Warriors serve up 9 tracks of fucking amazing powerviolence. This split begins with KungFu Rick's "Sweet Social Setbacks": Offering plenty of changeups from chaotic and noisy metalcore to slow and pummeling sludge with a few straight hardcore chord progressions thrown in. The Ultimate Warriors cram 9 tracks onto their side, from wild and crazy technical metalcore with tons of dissonance to total death metal in short bursts. The vocals range from low growls to high screams and some insane cackling. There are lots of samples in between tracks, but a lot of this stuff is too chaotic for me. Lyrically KungFu Rick keeps things nice and abstract: "Response set in proximity. Social ground born animosity…" The Ultimate Warriors on the other hand are totally goofy, amusing, but goofy… more often than not talking about wrestling and such. Well, not much to say, just let you decide who are the winner of this crucial war on this split release.

Scholastic Deth - Final Examiner

Scholastic Deth was a straight-edge thrashcore/powerviolence band from the San Francisco Bay area. They released 3 EPs (Shackle Me Not!, Revenge of the Nerds and Killed by School, all on the 625 Thrashcore label) and this "Final Examiner" Cd is their full completed discography before disbanding in 2002, also under 625 records. It's a scorching collection of the recorded works Scholastic Deth, Includes all three of the band's ferocious EPs, some compilation cuts, unreleased madness, and a complete radio show. Enhanced CD features a video compilation of live footage from various shows. Packaged with a 28-page booklet full of crap. They had a sound which differed from many of their peers, which seemed to take a lot of qualities from old-school hardcore, creating fast, fun and positive music with a message. This message dealt with everything from skateboarding, the love of coffee and life as a nerd, to the lack of substance and political awareness in hardcore today, problems and calling people on their shit within DIY subculture and the hypocrisy surrounding punks bidding on a 2oz piece of vinyl on a corporate auction site.
43 minute with 50 song CD, this discography is blazing fast thrash/hardcore style all sung by the legendary Max625 himself.

Fuck On The Beach - Power Violence Forever

This very classic from Japan fastcore/power violence hero - Fuck On The Beach was released in 1999 under Slap A Ham Records. Screeched vocals, frantic guitars, whirlwind beats, and sheer aural overload have become this band's trademark. This "Power Violence Forever" CD is the fastest, hardest, most unique japanese hardcore thrash I've ever heard. These japanese boys scream and yell in english mostly, coming up with delightful lyrics, Blindingly fast and heavy on all fronts, from the short bursts of energy that make up all of the tracks on here to the non-stop instrumental violence.
Containing 22 amazing tracks, it's feel like doing a fast riding with your old bike in a freeway. Really good band although it's hard to distinguish when songs end cause it all has the same vibe but it you like romantic gorilla, you'll like these guys just as much

Yacobsae - Pop-Punk Alienation

This undisputed kings of bonecrushing ultra fast hardcore Yacobsae formed in 1990 in Hamburg, Germany. "Pop Punk Alienation" is Yacobsae's deal with a really outstanding release where they cover in a very personal and original way their faves in Punk Rock and Pop-Punk. Containing 11 cover + 2 own songs in 34 minutes, it's a collection of some cover songs from Weezer, Everclear, Compulsion, Nirvana,The Wannadies, Teen Idols, Fastbacks and Glow. Plus two own Pop-Punk tunes. And Yacobsae didn´t destroy them with blast beats, it´s 100% cover versions with their own sound and with German accent.
Hearing a bunch of identical covers of pop-punk songs with a German accent over them doesn't really wasting time for me just because it happens to have been done by one of the most insane grind/powerviolence bands of all time. Betercore - Youthcrust Discography

Betercore was a powerviolence/youthcrustcore straight-edge political band formed in Holland in 1997. And it was the Youthcrust Discography that I think what the last think that was released. Albums like this document why discographies, especially for now-disbanded bands with limited press runs on their records, can sometimes be a very, very good idea. Youthcrust Discography was a complete discography consist of 29 tracks of this devastating Dutch unit released on Refuse Records, lyricwise it is all political stuff, often with a sense of humour, both in english and dutch. Betercore is always known for their ultra fast hardcore which they call 'youthcrust' themselves, Spazztic fast-core that combines '80s elements with ultracore classics like Charles Bronson.This is hardcore with great spirited DIY punk roots, it’s how it should be! Recommended!

The Locust - New Erection

The Locust was formed in 2001 and have a unique stage presence: costumed in skin-tight, full body nylon suits (which the band refer to as uniforms), they have at times come across to first-time viewers as frightening. Over the years though, their increasingly abrasive and unpredictable direction has become as polarizing as their notorious antics, both on and off stage. "New Erection" is their newest full lenght Cd released in 2007 under ANTI records after their EP CD entitled "Safety Second, Body Last" released in 2005 under Ipepac Records. Consist of 11 noisy tracks with political and satirically lyrics, "New Erection" could be the creative leap you've been waiting to hear. Their music arose from the members' refusal to adhere to the status quo and in 2007, the band has reaffirmed their status as one of music's most unpredictable and innovative acts. Simultaneously discombobulating and Swiss-watch precise, New Erections spikes and short-circuits with electronic hiccups that'd make a computer programmer's brain itch. It also marks the Locust's first major creative leap in years: employing jarring edits and logic-defying changes that lean more toward Digital Hardcore than hardcore punk. If you respect artistic boldness and are willing to work a little harder than most to find value in music, you should be able to get into The Locust and New Erections ranks among their best work.
