In My Eyes - Nothing To Hide

Last known full length studio album by these Boston Straight Edge leading band - In My Eyes - released in 2000 under Revelation Records. Contains 11 tracks,
This album is flashback to all that was cool about the straight edge scene in the late eighties. During this genre's heyday bands that sounded like this were saturating the hardcore scene and even the most ravenous fans found themselves deluged with countless variations on a somewhat limited theme. This album also Showing a somewhat more developed style than that on their first album (The Difference Between), this album incorporated more melodic elements, along with some experimentation , a characteristic rare in hardcore. Track 9, "What's Wrong With Me?", is a cover of the legendary Washington DC Hardcore punk band The Faith which originally appeared on the Void/Faith split 12".
Boasting an overall better set of songs and fuller production, Nothing to Hide is an improved sophomore set from In My Eyes, although it retains all the energy and passion of Difference Between. Minor Threat is still the band's dominant influence -- both in terms of music and straight-edge attitude -- but Nothing to Hide also shows a neo-hardcore band coming into its own, beginning to break away from the imitation phase and develop its own style.

Black Flag - In My Head

The 6th full length and also the last studio album by these legendary American Hardcore punk band - Black Flag - Originally released in 1985 under SST records. Contains 9 trcaks, this album was the final full length is arguably their finest and definitely their most inovative, the current lineup being Greg Ginn, Henry Rollins, Anthony Martinez, and Kira. Slower and yet more experimental than former albums, with a Black Sabbathian edge to it's hardcore sound but without resorting to metal. Rollins'voice is lower in the mix than ever before and weirdly echoey but certainly gets the job done. Excellent drumming as usual and just as in Loose Nut, Ginn's guitar solos are more restrained and rock'n roll oriented without loosing their manic edge. Songs like "Out Of This World" and "Society's Tease" demonstrate Greg Ginns masterful guitar work and Henry's ferious vocal management, these are heavy tunes with all the trademark Black Flag intensity. it also is the start of what is also defined today as postpunk.when i first heard this album it just blew me away i thought i knew what punk was all about.but after i relized that it was about thinking, attitude and music . something the black flag has lots of in there albums .so being the last of some 10 albums it still is has lots to say and is never boring to listen to.
This album demonstrates the true musical master talent of this band and doesn't sacrafice any of the intensity and aggression from their previous releases. You can label this as hardcore jazz experimental metal punk, but I'd just rather call it excellent music. Enjoy!

Agnostic Front - Warriors

Formed in around of 1980, it's been almost 3 decades Agnostic Front kicking around the worldwide Hardcore/Punk scene. And this "Warriors" CD was their last known full length album released in November 2007 under Nuclear Blast Records. Consist of 14 solid NYHC tracks, the bands message of family and unity has never come across stronger in their music. Warriors is a statement of strength in the face of adversity and few bands make a statement louder than Agnostic Front. This album is exactly what you'd expect from Agnostic Front. It's intense hardcore/crossover thrash with thick, meaty riffs from guitarists Joseph James and Vinnie Stigma. The songs are simple, catchy and groovy and also pack plenty of punch. What I really dig about this album is how furious it sounds. I haven’t heard anything with this amount of anger and hatred in a long, long time. The metal influence, typical of New York Hardcore, is evident, but the tempo has been upped and the riffs are fucking killer. This is hardcore thrash metal and it is good quality hardcore thrash metal as well. "Warriors" explodes right from the beginning with a flurry of double bass drumming.
New York Hardcore still is, and obviously will always be, the cornerstone of this group. If there are two things that define Agnostic Front, it’s integrity and no compromise.

Madball - Infiltrate The System

Last known full length by these New York Hardcore veterans - Madball - released under Ferret Records in the middle of 2007. Contains 13 tracks, this album was features more complex structures and compositions than the Madball of the past, while the lyrical content has moved beyond topics of hardcore and family loyalty to far more engaging lexicon. 13 tracks that combine the most tried-and-true and fan-beloved elements of their esteemed catalogue with new depth, renewed urgency, increasing diversity and a near-conceptual approach to new stories about the streets and the world. This album have a new level of control over the cds production and mixing which is great, sound heavier on just about everyway the music is tight, groove ridden, streamlined if you will and the lryics are a little more politally charged then totally personal. Maybe, i will classify this as a metalcore album, in this case, the metal comes from heavier, busier hardcore-evolved riffs to thrash. Breakdowns are riffs played at half-tempo with double bass drum beatings, and thankfully not of the single-note variety. this incarnation of the band is one of the best I loved matt hendersons guitar, will shepler on drum and vinny stigma and every one else in the band but this band simple shares one vision together i think they just click & groove from the sounds of things.
So, here they come the veterans!

Rage Against The Machine - Evil Empire

The Second album from these legendary Political leading band - Rage Against The Machine-was achieve their 1996 Grammy Award. Evil Empire released under Sony Music in April 1996, and you'll get a grimy, dark and sinister effort that better showed off RATM's hiphop and punk influences when hearing this album. Contains 11 tracks, there is an unbelievable energy captured on this record. Maybe for the fact that it was mostly recorded live, in the studio. It took me a few listens before I truly recognized the quality of this album. The riffing isn't as repetitive as the first album, and the lyrics aren't quite as juvenile as that release either. I must give Tom Morello some mention, of course, since his solos are interesting and innovative as always. The highlight here is "Bulls on Parade", where his solo sounds like a DJ scratching a turntable; the fact alone that the man has to duplicate this live is insane. All lyrics are some of Zack's best in my opinion and the chorus is the bands all time best, hands down.
RATM, as heard on this album, are no doubt legends in this genre and have influenced bands that have followed. "Evil Empire" is the only Rage album that stands up to repeat listenings, in my opinion.

Converge - When Forever Comes Crashing

The music genre : Metalcore wasn’t a well known genre in 1998, but this foursome had already been at it for eight years at that point. Converge was formed in 1990 by Jacob Bannon ( Vocalist ) and Kurt Ballou ( Guitarist). They first started by playing covers of hardcore punk, punk rock and heavy metal songs, being self-confessed "hardcore kids with leftover Slayer riffs". Converge came from Combining the anger and speed of hardcore/metalcore and kicking it up a notch with some great instrumental abilities and a unique sound that no band could quite possibly match. And this "When Forever Comes Crashing" CD was the thirth full length released under Equal Vision Records in 1998. Contains 12 tracks includes one unreleased demo track, this allbum was full filled with uncomromising speed and power with many quick and dramatic tempo shifts. Noisy yet technical guitarwork ala Rorschach, fast drumming, and plenty of psychotic vocals. this album may be hard to get into at first due to the insane vocal stylings of jacob bannon. For you fans of the thrashy, more metally side of Converge, this album fits. It's a more thrashy and angry side, as seen in the opening track : "My Unsaid Everything". Enjoy!

Poison The Well - Tear From The Red

This was the 2002 studio album by these Post Hardcore leading band - Poison The Well under Trustkill Records.Contains 10 tracks,"Tear From The Red" is a very experimental album. In many aspects, it's a step forward from their first release -"The Opposite Of December". Gone are the repetitive chugging lines and raspy vocals. All the instruments have definitely improved and Jeffrey Moreira's singing abilities have almost doubled.Tear From The Red was originally planned to be 11 original songs and one cover song but the cover plan was ditched before recording. The ability to be extremely heavy and then at the next turn become breathtakingly beautiful. Even the acoustic track "Horns and Tails" is written in a way where even though it is acoustic you can sense the same level of power as with Turn Down Elliot or Rings from Corona. Many people dont give it props because it lacks all the showy solos and kill me lyrics, but they replace that with raw emotion and feeling in each and everyone of the songs on this album. By the way, This was one of crucial albums when Trustkill records dominating the worldwide hardcore scene, let's have some memories. :)

7 Seconds - Good To Go

Formed in the early 80's, 7 Seconds has been a mainstay on the hardcore scene since then. And this was the 1999 full length released under Side One Dummy Records in June 1999. Contains 16 solid tracks which all are full filled with melodic power with sheer backbreaking mayhem. All songs racing through in less than thirty minutes, you'll be hard pressed to find a song that isn't loaded with intensity, sweat, and blood. These guys know what they're doing and do it well. Kevin Seconds proves once again that he's an insightful lyricist. 7 Seconds are able to profoundly express their convictions of unity, the strength of an individual, anti-racism, and gender equality without limiting themselves to one audience. They make it known that they aren't "hard" and everyone is welcome to share their music and message. Check this one out, for all of you who still believe in old tradition of Hardcore.

Vison Of Disorder - Imprint

The second full length studio album by these New York Hardcore Legend - Vision Of Disorder, was released in 1998 under Roadrunner Recs. Vision Of Disorder began playing together in 1992, in Long Island New York. and then disbanded in 2002. Contains 11 tracks, this album was heavier then their self-titled debut. This album is truly incredible. It has an unrelenting power, and I don't just mean it's loud and noisy - which was how a lot of metal/hardcore fans define 'power'. I would recommend this to fans of Agnostic Front, Hatebreed, and even Deftones. Get it and it will make sense. For Pantera, Down, and Superjoint Ritual fans out there, catch Phil Anselmo on an amazing duet in the song By The River. VOD is a pioneer band of hardcore. As the scene was mutilated by MTV, they will Forever stand out.

Youth Of Today - Break Down The Walls

It was the first full length studio album by these crucial old school hardcore straight edge legend - Youth Of Today. This "Break Down The Walls" LP originally released in 1987 under Wishingwell Recs. and by the time was re-released by Reveleation Recs. in 1997. This album contains 13 greats straight ahead hardcore tracks with aggressive, honest and positive lyrics. Very fast songs that full filled with emotion and everything being played sounded fast, simple loud and raw.
What really brings out sense of hardcore, at least for me, are Ray Cappo's vocals. They're so intense, so desperate and so urgent. That was hardcore used to be completely based on- a need for change, a positive philosophy. At the end, Youth Of Today with this "Break Down The Walls" LP are a legendary old school hardcore band with Ray Cappo on vocal, a must for anyone who listens to HC.

Turmoil - The process Of...

Turmoil once was a hardcore band that able to break the border that stands between metal and hardcore. This "The Process of..." CD was their last known studio album under Century Media which was released in 1999. Contains 12 tracks, this album is musically complex for a hardcore band with numerous, fancy tempo changes and a menacing vibe worthy of Slayer. The lyrics are almost all accusatory, straight-edge-style rants, while their musical barrage operates like a swarm of insects and is relentless and deafening. It really focuses hard on the riff, which are well executed and perfectly placed. The vocals are rough enough to incite mayhem, but not so overwhelming as is the case in a lot of hardcore acts now-a-days. As the lines between metal and hardcore continue to blur you can bet that "The Process Of..." will stand up to the testament of the vitality of the genre. In my opinion, this was their best album so far, while they aren't around anymore, Turmoil deserve to be classified as the best in metalcore.

Buried Alive - The Death of Your Perfect World

It was the debut full length album by these New York based hardcore band - Buried Alive released under well known Victory Records back in 1999. Contains 12 tracks, this album was purely raging hardcore fury delivered with a sharply honed metal edge. Intelligent lyrics and socially aware lyrics add to the appeal of "The Death of Your Perfect World". It also possesses the outstanding combination of speed, heaviness, toughness, breakdowns, and integrity. It starts off heavy and ends even heavier. Since the first relase; Six Month Face 7", the band continues to grow musically as they continue to develop and build on their sonically assaulting sound. This album was still Hardcore make no sodding mistake, but unlike Terror where the involvement is more-or-less immediate, this takes effort to involve yourself. If you like hatebreed or all out war, Buried Alive would be those two bands put together, to form an even heavier hardcore band than those two. Overall, this is hardcore that would bring you back into Victory Records glory days, when hardcore that full filled with breakdown still dominating the underground scene.

Nausea - Extinction the second coming

This was the compilation of their 1990 ¨Extinction¨ Lp + their highly experimental 1991 ¨Cybergod¨ Ep + their 1992 ¨Lie Cycle Ep, clocking in at 66' that was released under Selfless records in 1993. Nausea were formed in the dawn of the 80's and included Agnostic Front's Roger Miret wife Amy, paradoxically totally into crust and anarcho-pacifism. Nausea took the lyrical protest direction of their mentors (England's infamous Crass) and framed it around heavy, fast and grinding metallic hardcore. Nausea were formed at sometime during the late '80's in New York City's then burgeoning hardcore scene. The record production is raw, loud and yet also very audible and clear. the opening track is called "Tech-No-Logic-Kill" and begins almost Sabbath-esque with a a very melodic, dark build up into the impending thrash fest with male vocalist Al Long growling like an anmial over the chaos. Recommended for you who are into the political stuff with oldschool thrashy sound.

Heaven Shall Burn - Iconoclast (Part 1: The Final Resistance)

These crucial Germany Hardcore act, was mentioned as the first to be known as the most perfect band who break the border that stand between Hardcore and Death Metal. And this "Iconoclast" CD was their last known release in 2008 under well known Metal label : Century Media. This CD is a decent offering which mixes hardcore and metal influences quite well. In my opinion, it's much better than the standard metalcore fare you hear these days. And at 58 minutes, it's a good bargain. Contains 14 tracks, this album was a truly rip-snortin' & brutal collection of melodic death metal, thrash, and hardcore. Yes, it's a damn heavy album, extreme on all fronts, but these guys are so melodic every step of the way it makes for a perfect balance. The guitars are nice and crunchy with plenty of mosh-worthy riffs and breakdowns, brutal, sledgehammer drum work, and the deliciously evil growls of Marcus Bischoff.
If you look at the lyrics they fill the criterias for being Hardcore with lyrics about politics, induvidual freedom and war, "problems of the society" you may call it. This album is a well produced for all of you who are into the healthy mixed of Hardcore and Death Metal. Propably, people nowadays would call it Deathcore? Whatever.. Just enjoy!

Cro-Mags - Twenty Years of Quarrel and Greatest Hits

This was the last known audio album by these old time New York Hardcore legend - Cro-Mags released under New York Hardcore Records in 2006 as 20'th anniversary of "Age of Quarrel". Contains songs from Age of Quarrel, Best Wishes and Revenge, as well as a live track, two unreleased songs, a track of Harley demo-ing the song "Don't Tread On Me" in 1982 and the White Devil "Re-Incarnation" EP (Harley and Parris' other band). This greatest hits compilation album will gives you New York Hardcore of the highest calibre. The Age of Quarrel songs are a bit more punkish than the rest of the songs, although some very slight metal influences can be heard in them as well, i.e. slight Black Sabbath and Motörhead influences.Unfortunatelly, the sound quality isn't what people nowadays are used to, although everything was digitally remastered for this album. Formed around in 1984, Cro-Mags are a classic example of a band which played the popular NYHC sound of the 80's during the American hardcore movement.
So, here they come the legend with their uncompleted Greatest Hits compilation, enjoy!

Born From Pain - Survival

This was the first album for these Holland Hardcore act - Born From Pain, worked with the new Vocalist : Rob Franssen ( previously the bass player ) and also the new bass player : Andries Beckers after the departure of Che Snelting. "Survival" was released in November 2008 under Metal Blade records, contains 11 tracks which all of them shows the musical change from fast and aggressive style to many beatdown rhythms and mid tempos with a combination of some modern melodic riffs that give the idea that maybe they were a bit blown away from new style bands such as Machine Head or by adjudging the track "The Wolves Are Loose" may allow us to create an association that the dutch masters were lately influenced by Mastodon. The choruses are punctuated with gang vocals, and of course breakdowns are frequent and crushing. Musically, Born From Pain defiantly are more akin to American hardcore and thrash rather than their native European metal. The lyrics on Survival are very politically conscious, as their statement on the band's official website :" ... This is a wake up call. This ia a call for awareness. A call for critical view on the powers that be. This is a call for Resistance!"

MOB 47 - Ultimate Attack

A completed discography that packed inside double CD by these swedish Hardcore legend - MOB 47 released under Speedstate Records (Japan) in 2003. Contains 124 songs includes live tracks, demos and tracks released on tape only compilations. The recordings represent the many different band line ups including some solo material with Ake backed by a drum machine. Highlights include their 1983 "Karnvapen Attack" 7" and some killer live tracks (some of these have been booted onto LP’s in the past). Formed in Stockholm in 1982, Mob 47 has been known as the most widely known and loved Swedish hardcore bands that contemporaries with ANTI-CIMEX and played a similar style of break-neck hardcore punk. Their sound was remarkable because they combined a strong Discharge influence with the speed of the fastest US hardcore bands, such as DRI and Gang Green, fast and aggressive. Raging Hardcore Punk that hit hard as all hell, and then some, with a dirty edge and rumbling low end. Equally fast, catchy, and memorable. All the way through. A solid listen that demands repeated listening, just check this one out.

Man Is The Bastard - Sum Of The Man " The Brutality Continues.."

Formed in Claremont, California back in 1991 and then disbanded in 1997, Man Is The Bastard were a pioneering hardcore punk band who contributed the name, and perhaps also the ethos, to the punk subgenre known as power violence. This album was the official re-release of their first album plus tracks from the "our earth's blood" 7inch, and splits with born against, bleeding rectum, and sinking body released under Vermiform Records in 1996. Contains 32 tracks, this album's sound was a brutal mix of complicated technical riffing and straight-up hardcore. Man is the Bastard is by no means an easy listen. Their songs are bludgeoning, sometimes painful, and very noisy.Using double Bass Guitar player which the bass's sound always drively distorted, brutally pounded with dual dual grinding voices, Man Is the Bastard also made the move of displacing the electric guitar from its long reign as the primary instrument of punk aggression. Their thematic emphasis on the primitive and mythological would continue in Man Is the Bastard records such as “Sum of the Men” and the split album with Bleeding Rectum. The fullest expression of these concerns appeared with the 7 inch EP entitled “Backward Species,” which combined an almost anthropological/New Historicist approach to humanity’s violent practices. If you are into Hardcore Punk or Power Violence shit, check this one out.
