The Black Dahlia Murder - Deflorate

The Black Dahlia Murder may be one of the world’s most popular band which able to combine Scandinavian melodic death metal with blackened thrash, which in of themselves are both combinations used to excellent effect.Vocalist Trevor Strnad’s lyrics have always been a strong point in the band’s music and he fails to disappoint on this album. Over the album’s course Strnad’s poetic, loquacious style covers a wide range of morbid topics ranging from deformity and suspended animation to cities of the dead.Clocking in at just 34 minutes long, the ten songs blow by at fantastic speeds. The hyper-sonic riffs and seemingly constant blast beats fire every song away like a rocket. But in turn, there is so much material packed into each song that the album feels like a marathon of brutality.Since the band's previous releases have been shaky at best--Unhallowed had some promise but Miasma and Nocturnal hardly escaped the clutches of the sordid-- Deflorate caught me off guard. It demonstrates the beginnings of a true command of the melodeath genre by The Black Dahlia Murder, and I am eager to hear the music they will, inevitably, make in the future.

Insect Warfare - Noise Grind Power Death

And... this was the last known release from these Texas Noise Grind entitled : Noise Grind Power Death. but as rumour said, this EP was the final release from them. One band who perfected the craft of Grindcore was Insect Warfare a band that savagely tore away at the frayed seems of established extreme music, attempting to burn the entire idea down before they broke up last year. I got to talk to the band and ask them about their legacy, their thoughts on music and what lies ahead. Insect Warfare is a grindcore band from Houston, Texas. Formed in 2004, they made their first demo “Gulf Coast Infestation” later that year. This earned them some interest from 625 records, which helped to release the following year IW’s next installment as a band, “At War With Grindcore” EP with 8 fast, heavy crust tracks on it. Insect Warfare once said : "We started around 2004 to play Grindcore in the vein of the early shit (88/89 UK grind) but also to incorporate a lot of the noisier style grind from the 90s that we were into." From the get go the listener is completely obliterated by huge amounts of intense feedback, pounding drums, scorching shrieks and bellows and an overall bottom heavy production. The band displays a devastating, and even painful at times, marriage of pure noise and grindcore with this LP. After listening to this recording three times in succession I was left with a headache and a need for fresh air. The album sounds as if they recorded five songs, each about a minute and a half long, took out the guitars and utilized vocal effects and general feedback instead, then proceeded to cut each song into ten sections with about a quarter second of breathing space in between. Needless to say it's pretty intense. Each "song" is a concise burst of primal aggression and is painfully awesome. The high volume feedback might kill your ear drums after awhile, but it's still enjoyable. This album isn't all to alien, being that the manner in which they play is exactly the same as with older recordings, they've just done away with the guitars and bass and opted to scream their way through songs, rather then riff it through. In the end it really seems like an improv record that's meant to fuck with people. While it actually is enjoyable, it is noisey, chaotic, barbaric and utterly destructive. Within the first ten hours of owning it, I've made good use of it to get people out of my room; this little baby clears people out in no time and gets people genuinely upset. It's easy to dismiss this record, but it's got some charm to it i can't ignore.

Carnage - Dark Recollections

This was the first full length album after several demos from these Swedish death metal finest whose members later went on to found Dismembers and Arch Enemy. This album was released under well known Earache Recs in 1990, contains 18 old school death metal tracks.
Carnage can be called one of those one-hit wonders of old school death metal. The band was initially formed as a grindcore band calling themselves Global Carnage at the end of 1988 but later renamed themselves and started playing straight up death metal. Carnage only lasted a very short time, and this is their only available release. The former members of Carnage also went on to form and join other bands likes of Dismember/Carcass/and Entombed. That should give you a very good idea of what to expect here. It's a mixure of all three of those bands in one, and let me tell you, it's incredible to say the least. The vocals are straight from hell, and the musicianship is very good. Considering the fact that they were originally grindcore, the band still maintain some of their former elements, as can be seen in songs like Gentle Exhuming but the real flare of the band can be heard on songs like the title track, Death Evocation (later covered by Dismember) and Infestation of Evil where the listener can hear and appreciate how mature and cohesive their work is, considering the age of the band members, and after listening to this, listeners will probably feel like someone drove a chainsaw through their brains but they’ll keep coming back for more because they will enjoy how insane the album is. Enjoy then.

Decapitated - The Negation

if you're into an album that got the speed and punishing intensity of the drumming, this CD surely, will entertaint you. The 2004 full length studio album from these Poland Death Metal Leading band - Decapitated - released under Earache Records in March 2004.
Contains 8 solid tracks, this album was
a welcome step in the right direction for this talented young band. These young guys seem to be finally coming into their own. The vocals have become much more expansive than their first two full-lengths. Their drummer has been great from the get-go -- it's actually pretty amazing that he hasn't lost a beat, with already many years of aggressive drumming under his belt. Vitek truly does credit to Death Metal with his efforts here. Not so stupidly over the top, as you might find on early Nile albums, but still retaining that brutal blast beat without falling too much into the trap of physical impossibility, the likes of which you might find on Sleep Terror's latest record.
"The Negation", while not exactly breaking any new ground, shows us that the old still has plenty of kick left in it. It isn't a rehash of basic metal riffs, it is a new take on what some say is making the Death Metal genre stale these days. Every song on this album is good, there are none that stand out as particularly awful. Decapitated has truly struck an excellent balance between the modern metal scene and the metal that the long-term lovers such as myself know and love.
Considering how unrelenting and punishing this CD is, I'm sure it will have equal appeal to fans of grindcore and death metal, although I would definitely consider it death. Absolutely raging, spine-splintering, cranium-cracking, death!

Six Feet Under - Death Rituals

Last known full length album by these Tampa's Death Metal leading act - Six Feet Under, released under Metal Blade Records in 2008. All that being said, one reason that I like Six Feet Under so much is that they have the balls to keep music fun for themselves. Contains 13 tracks, the music on this album is brutally bludgeoning, I hear it on for the first time and started headbanging. Six Feet Under consistently delivers quality American death metal, and "Death Rituals" is no exception. SFU’s style is very recognizable, and they don’t deviate very far from that path. Mid tempo songs are crushingly heavy, but have ample groove and hooks. It Features a Classics death vocal of Chris Barnes, guitars that are almost always eerie or head bobbingly heavy and drums that are not too busy. My personal favorite track is “Bastard”. It is perhaps the only track that I could attempt to label as “fun” and features the band showing off its Graveyard Classics tendencies. Yes, it is an old Motley Crue cover. They push it through the Six Feet Under machine, slowing it down and sludging it up a bit to better fit their style, but you can still definitely tell it is a Crue song.
Chris Barnes’ death growls seem really high in the mix on this album, and his lyrics deal with the usual topics of death, death, death and murder. What can we say? He is Chris Barnes... :)

Sepultura - Chaos A.D.

Sepultura's 5th studio album entitled : Chaos A.D. released under Roadrunner in the late of 1993. The four men from Belo Horizonte could foresee a glorious future after Beneath the Remains and the huge Arise in 1990. "Chaos A.D. upped the production values several notches witch rid the band of a sometimes rough sound. The diminishing of their past speed wasn't a bad thing either, as the riffs are some of the most brutal i have ever heard in the Thrash Catalogue. They slowed down a bit and added little more of a tribal, Native American sound on this album. The sound of Max's voice fits in perfectly with the music and the lyrics. Max Cavalera roars with his rage of his country's state, concerning at war and economic decay, songs with serious, informed lyrics about lands being torn asunder by war, greed, and corruption. Probably the most notable thing here is Sepultura's creative use of rhythms. There is a fine balance between heavy, compelling grooves, and corny "brootal breakdowns." This album has better developed vocals and sees the band going acoustic for one song.
I think all of Sepultura's albums are great, but Chaos A.D. is definatley the best.

Corrosion of Conformity - Deliverance

This was the fourth album by these North Carolina Crossover leading band- Corrosion Of Conformity - released under Columbia Records in November 1994. Formed in 1982, Corrosion of Conformity has retained their ever-so-fitting name throughout numerous lineup and style changes. Corrosion Of Conformity can speed their sound and go mental as in their beginings or either can slow down the madness and be more judgemental, but always they will stand for their ideological and political tougths. Contains 14 songs, this album and the first on which Peeper Keenan was lead singer. By this album, the band had completely shed their punk and thrash influences, instead opting for Black Sabath -inspired heavy metal style. Being dark and positive at the same time, very catchy riffs, excellent bass and drum work make Deliverance a must have for any music fan that enjoys groove metal, sludge metal or even classic Southern rock. There is a host of great rocking tracks, all enveloping that southern swagger and a great bent for melody. My favourites include the grooving opener "Heaven Is Not Overflowing", the slow-burner "Albatross", "Clean My Wounds" which is one of the band's most catchy and well known songs. Enjoy!

Cephalic Carnage - Xenosapien

This was the last known full length studio album by these Colorado's Death Grinders - Cephalic Carnage - Released under Relapse Records in 2007. Contains 12 tracks, this album was an insanely brutal, technically precise, experiment in extreme death metal. To describe what kind of genre Cephalic Carnage goes into, you would have to list off about 5 or 6 genres just to come close to what it really sounds like. Cephalic Carnage's music incorporates a variety of genres, including doom metal, grindcore, black metal, jazz, sludge metal, stoner rock, and death metal. This is one technical album. I was expecting an all out Grind assault when I first bought this album. I was completely wrong. This band is a mix of Grind, Death, Doom, and Marajuana. That makes a great mix that the band likes to call Hydrogrind. John Merryman's drumming is insane, he is all over the kit, perfect timing, ingenius fills and rolls, and also Lenzig Leal's vocals may not be the best of the genre, but he has a good range of styles that he mixes up, he is never boring to listen to and he can match the guttural growls with a high pitched scream. Just check them out, get a new experience.

Carcass - Reek of Putrefaction

This was the first full length album from these british Grindcore living legend in 1995 released under Earache Recs. Consist of 20 fast and in your face brutal tracks, this album was a truly ferocious metal masterpiece. By the time, it was re-released in 2008 under the same label. Carcass can be consider as the inventors, with this album, of the forensic, gore, medical and autopsies lyrics; and add the collages of rotten limbs, tongues, heads and decaying corpses on the covers of the first two albums. The drumming has excellent production and Ken Owen does a brilliant job. The vocals are probably the most disgusting part of the album. As gutteral as you can get, they belt out the gore lyrics at lightning speeds.
Repulsion are rightly considered the true originators of grindcore and for good reason, but in 1987 three young Brits took their influence and made things just a bit faster, a bit gorier and ultimately even more brutal, if that were possible. Early Carcass such as this is not death metal-it's grindcore which makes it more akin to punk, hardcore, and crust. Well, grindcore is a style that is recognized not for the musical skills or for being technical. Fast-blazing drums, gutural voices, and a guitar that sounds like Tv with no signal.
This was the masterpiece by the living legend, if you are at all into gore or death metal, you need to own this album.

Suffocation - Souls To Deny

This was the 4th full length studio album by these Death Metal leading band - Suffocation that was released by Relapse Records in April 2004. Contains 8 tracks which all are a prove that It's a true-to-form return for death metal's kings of brutality after a very long waiting since their previous album, "Pierced from Within " in 1995. Suffocation's music is exactly how it's name implies: Suffocating. The guitars have so much low end it sometimes feels like you're wading through mud listening to them. There are very few moments on this album where you don't feel as if the band isn't playing as intensely as they possibly can. This album feature awesome drumming from one of death metal's finest drummers-Mike Smith. His drum fills and double bass work never gets boring,t he guitar riffs and leads still sound original, and vokillist Frank Mullen has one of the best growls in the genre, deep and throaty from the bowels of hell. The production is perfectly clean, the instruments sound incredible, and the vocals sound perfect also the mixing and mastering is incredible , The artwork is incredible, everything that a Death Metal should give. What more can we say? Just bang your head then..

Dying Fetus - War Of Attrition

This was the last known full length studio album by these death metal living legend from maryland, USA - Dying Fetus, that was released under well known Relapse Records in 2007. Contains 8 tracks which each track was running in more then 4 minutes in average. It's been four years since the last album, but they doesn't lost the intensity that made them famous, “War of Attrition” is brutal, well-played, quality death metal. All the classic DF ingredients are here - death growls, machine gun kicks, clattering snares, righteous riffs with a touch of Necrophagist in the pick sweeps. It seems that Dying Fetus have really turned up the “technical” notch on their guitars because almost every other riff is filled with complex difficult technical guitar playing and rifting. The double bass drumming is fast, though many metal drummers could match this speed. There will be a fast part, like around 200 bpm, that may last for 30 seconds with Mr. Timlin just blast beating the whole time, which by the way is the climax. Overall, “War of Attrition” is a enjoyable release and will surely please dedicated Fetus fans. They are Death Metal, and they are political, combination that might kill you dood.. so beware!

Bolt Thrower - The IVth Crusade

Playing death metal in generally mid paced temos, Bolt Thrower were at their peak with their 4th full length studio album entitled : "The IVth Crusade". Released under Earache Records back in 1992, this album was groove oriented Death metal played in the same vein as Obituary. Bolt Thrower are known somewhat as experts of their genre, death metal. Simply because they have the undoubted talent to create some of the heaviest and ferocious music with uncompromising double bass drum beats, low growls and unbeatable solo's. Karl's vocals are excellent in that his vocal range is just low enough to sound dark, but high enough that it doesn't compete with the tuned-down guitars and other instruments, and fits well in the mix, unlike other bands that pretend to be of this type where the guitar and vocals step on each other. The variety of tempo changes really keeps the album from growing monotonous but musically, the band doesn’t try to be overly technical and most of the music is pretty simple. Established since 1986, It's almost more than 23 years Bolt Thrower are kicking around the scene. This was their best album in my opinion, just check it out and bang your head! Yeah, it's a solid Death Metal Album!

Malevolent Creation - Warkult

This "Warkult" CD by these Brutal Death Metal Attackers - Malevolent Creation, was released under Nuclear Blast in 2004. The ninth album of this band is again on brutal death metal with hints of thrash and classic death metal. This album is fully concerned with war. War is quite a hot topic in today's world and it is very good that a band tries to inform people of its horrors through its music.Their ability to write memorable songs clearly is what puts this band over the top compared to a band like Disgorge or Deeds of Flesh. And also, the return of Dave Culross really adds to the heaviness of the album. He is a maniac who probably could run a marathon in the Olympics due to sheer cardiovascular ability mixed with insane drumming skills. Going mostly at full speed, but this band never afraid to slow things down a bit here and there. "Supremacy through annihilation" is the third track and possibly the hardest song to play out of the 12 tracks on the album. The solo fits perfectely to the rest of the song and is maybe one of the best solos created in death metal ever! This album is actually a bit on the slower side than their others. They stay more in the mid-paced arena here, as opposed to the constant blasting of, say, Envenomed.
These guys are superb musicians and songwriters and deserve respect because they have 8 other awesome death metal releases that not many people know about. And thats why Malevolent Creation would always be the one of essentials brutal death metal act, nowadays. As i informed, they would bring the chance for indonesian metal heads to see them alive in surabaya this march. Be prepared!

Motorhead - Motorizer

This was the last known album from these crucial old time legend band - Motor Head in 2008 under SPV records. Motorizer is Motorhead's 24th album. That's a truly remarkable feat. What else is remarkable is that at age 62, Lemmy is going as strong as ever. Guitarist Phil Campbell has been with the band since 1984, and his catchy riffs and blazing solos are the backbone of the Motorhead sound. Lemmy sounds exactly the same as he did in '77 and I can't think of any other vocalists that can say the same. His bass playing is phenomenal as well. Like the Stooges and the Ramones, Motorhead has never sold out or strayed far from their original musical blueprint. Motorhead has seen punk, NWOBHM, hair metal, grunge, nu-metal and punk come and go back again, and they have always sounded the same: as loud and heavy as ever. They always play the great formula, combining the energy of punk with mighty metal riffery - with a heavy dose of biker rock, as well. This "Motorizer" CD contains 11 pounding proto-metal Motorhead tracks loud enough to leave you deaf, with the always genial lyrics Lemmy has always written. "Buried Alive", "Back On The Chain" and "Heroes" maybe would be the most stands out tracks for this album. Well, just enjoy then.. It's the legend that play on dude!

The Dilinger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinity

Intense organized chaos in short brutal spurts. Yeah, this album is not for the faint of heart. It is pure sonic madness. This "Calculating Infinity" CD was the debut studio album by these based New Jersey Experimental Mathcore act- Dilinger Escape Plan that released under Relapse Records in 1999. It was a metal album that leans more towards hardcore and math-rock than prog: no keys here, just lots of odd-time rhythms, manic (and really impressive) instrumental work, and mostly screamed vocals. This music is not for those who take a certain pleasure in listening, but for those who seek a 'trash your apartment soundtrack' worthy of a medievil battlefront. The musical value in this album is it's complexity and the extremes it goes to to display it, manipulating every possible facet of musical talent each band member has and then some, because of the complexity of its song structures, which feature irregular time signatures and jarring changes of pace. This band's manic tunes are more like high-level trigonometry; mind-blowingly complicated, incomprehensible to most and strangely satisfying to a select studious few.
Just check this one out, and start to calculate! You won't be let down.

Job For A Cowboy - Genesis

Job For A Cowboy's debut full length studio album that relased in 2007 under Metal Blade Records after their last EP in 2005 entitled : "Doom". This "Genesis" CD was developed as a concept album not just lyrically, but musically as well. The guitars riff with and against each other through wavy polyrhythmic drum patterns that go from balls out blast beats, to jazzy break progressions. Johnny Davys growls pummel you with incredibly well written lyrics telling a story about the rise of the anti-Christ in a post 9/11 world, and you'll also hear some his higher pitched screams from time to time. The sound has evolved from deathcore to straight ahead death metal. Genesis is packed with thundering blast beats and a heaping dose of extremity. Guitarists Ravi Bhadriraju and Bobby Thompson do a good job at creating innovative riffs and play some quick but skillfull solos. Death metal isn't usually a subtle genre, but they manage to insert some subtle guitar harmonies and twists. The band members work as a lean, mean, well-oiled, skull-crushing machine, as they chock every other song full of rocketing tempos, pummeling, rapid-fire blast beats, and excellent, swirling, inventive, smoke-inducing guitar licks. Sometimes, as with "Altered From Catechization," a song will have buzzsaw riffs that are so fast and ferocious that they evoke helicopter blades.

Overall, it was an amazing Death Metal album for sure. A record that would bring you into a non stop crazy head banging activity.

Sinister - Hate

It was a death metal album that it structures built from vast impact and the extension of change construct intricate conflicts of unrelenting musical difference, letting the rich harmony of their dissonant chording conclude blasting nihilistic structures. Rough-throated shout vocals churn with percussion and emphasize belligerent blast beats. "Hate" was Sinister's thirth full length that was released by well known Nuclear Blast in 1995, and surely it had been a worth classic deat metal album nowadays. A solid death metal release, well above the average. It has a lot of good things going on that keep you interested, and the songs don't all sound the same. There are a few thrash and black metal elements in here as well, but not too much as to ruin things. The riffing here is precise, percussive, and very American-sounding, showing a lot of influence from Deicide’s Legion as well as the extended family of New York death metal bands. The lyrics are very Satanic and irreligious and angry, often devolving into blasphemous gang-shouts a’la “Satan spawn the Cacodaemon! Satan spawn the Cacodaemon!”: it’s not hard to imagine Glen Benton shouting “To Mega Therion! To Mega Therion! Six-six-six!”. :)

For you who are into Death Metal tunes, hearing this would be a great experience.

Terrorust - Post Mortal Archive

This is an Australian Brutal band that built from the fallen pieces of Damaged. Terrorust is really a redefinition and extension of what they had done in the past: a blitzkrieg relentless assault of death, black and grind and a complete disregard for trends or anything else. This "Post Mortal Archive" CD was their self release debut studio album in 2006 contains 10 brutal and heavy tracks. If you checked the previous Damaged's albums, you can still expect the quick vocals, the venomous drum beats and even infectious yet simple guitar riffs that put Damaged at the top of their game. The songs are longer, and many of the riffs are memorable, so don't expect this to be totally mindless grindcore. The band doesn't only rely on super aggression (although there's plenty of it here), they also know how to write a song. Imagine, Nasum, Pig destroyer, and some touch of death metal being perfectly blended inside this "Post Mortal Archive" CD, yeah, it would be a 38 minutes of bludgeoning brutality.

Arkangel - Is Your Enemy

This was the last knowm studio album by these Belgian Metalcore monsters that was released by GSR music on June 2008. This CD is pure fuckin' metalcore from the '90ies combined with modern metal stuff: there's no one break, this record sounds evil and rough from first to last second. The thing I liked about them back then was, that they delivered some plain and brutal songs packed with hatred and fast and whirling guitars. Their sound has evolved over the years and since "Prayers Upon Deaf Ears" CD, but that’s not a surprise considering to their line up reformation. The Slayer-esque guitar riffs are still present. Yet it sounds like the coming of guitarist Kirby (ex-Length Of Time) has added more layers to the music of the band. Some songs are really slow, like ‘13th Hour’ and ‘Slow But Heavy’. But overall, they still sound like Arkangel, they still have their signature aggressive sound and the songs are still pretty good. If you are into hardcore music that well kept with Metal guitar playing, this one directly for you.
